Welcome to the month of April. By the time you are reading this, you will be deep into it. That means we can’t play any April Fool jokes on you. Never been a fan of those anyway. Our local newspaper would always publish a story about how a big box store like Costco was approved to be built in our small, rural town, which always seemed to cause some type of uproar only to later announce it was a big April Fool’s Joke.
Another BIG deal in April is TAX day! Yep! Deadlines for filing those personal income tax returns. We don’t think most people mind paying taxes as long as they are being put to good use, it’s the waste that bothers most of us citizens.
Both days we mention above are for sure conversation starters, one full of funny stories, the other maybe not so much, but there are few days more memorable than the day you buy your dream home. That day is supposed to be fun, exciting and a great feeling of accomplishment.

are wondering how the headline ties into any of this. If you are receiving Homeward Bound for the first time, you will notice we give back to those in our community who need help the most. Like the people at San Diego Habitat for Humanity!
Just down the street from where we're typing, San Diego Habitat for Humanity has a long list of people who can't afford a home but hope to someday make that dream come true. And that is no April Fools joking matter. It’s also likely taxes are the furthest thing from the minds of the parents who are trying to keep a roof over the heads of their family.
As you know San Diego Habitat for Humanity does awesome work in providing strong and stable homes to help build strong and stable communities. They've also been leading advocacy efforts that focus on policy reform to remove systemic barriers preventing low-income and historically underserved families from accessing adequate, affordable shelter.
Most don't know that Habitat is a non-profit, so they depend on sponsorships and donations to provide their Community Services and keep up with rising building costs.
